Are you one of those people who get a kick out of going to the apples as soon as the autumn equinox arrives (or are you forced to, but still end up enjoying the moment 😉 )?

That's just as well, since we know that a phenomenal quantity of this popular fruit will soon be cooking, so why not take a closer look! In this blog, we'll explore different culinary ideas to avoid waste & so you can maximize your annual road trip. 🪜🌳

Taffy apple

The simplest recipe there is, but the one that also creates the most stars in the eyes of your “cocos”.

You'll need these ingredients to proceed (for 8 apples):

- 2 cups sugar
- Apples of your choice (Honeycrisp, McIntosh or Empire)
- 1 cup water
- 1 & a half cups vinegar (red, white or regular wine)
- 5 tablespoons corn syrup
- Food coloring (optional)

Step 1
Insert the sticks of your choice into the apples (deep enough).

Step 2
Mix sugar, corn syrup, vinegar & water.

Step 3
Bring to a boil to obtain a beautiful amber caramel, and add food coloring until desired color is achieved.

Step 4
Cook to 290°F on a candy thermometer (available in grocery stores) & remove from heat. Ideally, you'll need to stop the cooking process by placing the pan in a bowl of ice, down to about 200°F.

Dip your apples in the deliciously sweet liquid & let the magic happen for 25-30 minutes! Enjoy!

Apple butter

How about a little luxury in a jar that's so easy to make? If so, we highly recommend stocking up on this apple butter, such a great idea for hostess gifts!

- 4 Gala apples & 4 McIntosh apples
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 2 tbsp. butter
- ¼ cup maple syrup

Step 1
Clean & core the apples. Give them a makeover!

Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a boil and soften the apples.

Step 3
Once the water is removed, add the rest of the ingredients & use the blender foot (a bit like a soup) to blend everything together. Stop when the texture seems smooth but thick.

Step 4
Place the mixture in pretty mini jars & chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours, to allow the butter to set.

After that, just try to be sensible & don't want to get it all over the place. 😬
